Here at Ovingham C of E First School, our beautiful grounds support a range of learning opportunities outside the classroom. Over the last year we have been busy developing our outdoor areas and now have a diverse range of spaces that enhance the learning and play opportunities available to our children.
The PTA worked hard at the beginning to clear our wild, overgrown spaces. Since then, our caretaker Mr. Hogg has been digging, clearing, designing and building. You'll find tyre trails, balance beams, and performance stages to enhance playtimes and a thriving pond, fruit and veg boxes and an outdoor classroom to enhance our learning time.
There is a diverse range of wildlife using our grounds with us including birds such as the Bullfinch, Thrush, Blackbird and Chaffinch. We know of five (possibly more!) resident hedgehogs, as well as a weasel living on site. Don't forget the peacocks who like to visit from next door! The beautiful peahen had five baby chicks on our school grounds this summer.
